Solios Corp is currently hiring for a Biomedical Instrumentation Specialist to support our client’s regional pathology laboratory in San Francisco, CA. This is a full-time, permanent position with Solios Corp.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Technical Requirements and Certifications »
- Hands-on experience with biomedical instrumentation from vendors such as Abbott, Yaskawa, Bio-Rad, Cepheid, and Hamilton
- Knowledge of LIMS systems – both custom (e.g., Lab-Connect) and commercial platforms (e.g., Thermo Fisher)
- Proficiency with R or similar statistical tools for data analysis and biostatistical modeling
- Familiarity with CMMS systems for maintenance coordination
- Strong understanding of CLIA, GLP, GDP, and EHS regulatory standards
Education and Experience »
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Lab Science, Biotechnology, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a clinical or diagnostic lab environment focused on biomedical instrumentation
- Proven ability to manage full instrumentation lifecycles – from selection, installation, SOP development, to system integration
- Experience managing multiple technical projects and stakeholders using tools like Smartsheet, JIRA, or MindManager
Preferred Qualifications »
- Experience developing workflows for diagnostic assays in CODE DARK lab environments
- Demonstrated success in technical troubleshooting and supporting lab automation
- Background in integrating instrumentation into IT infrastructure for enhanced data access
- Strong documentation and training experience with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Previous experience providing Level 1 support for system issues in a lab setting

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Job Responsibilities »
- Design and implement instrumentation workflows for diagnostic assays across all lab processing phases (pre-analytical, analytical, archival)
- Serve as the lead troubleshooter for all biomedical instrumentation and act as primary liaison with vendors
- Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance via CMMS and vendor collaboration
- Write detailed SOPs and train R&D and lab technicians on the proper use of biomedical equipment
- Analyze technical incident reports and apply statistical methods to uncover patterns and inform improvement efforts
- Lead installation and integration of new lab equipment, including SOP drafting, testing, and system validation
- Manage multiple lab-based instrumentation projects with clear timelines and deliverables
- Optimize and validate critical diagnostic assay workflows in a CODE DARK environment
- Ensure full compliance with CLIA, GLP, GDP, and EHS standards while managing laboratory supplies and inventory
- Act as the point-of-contact between technical and IT teams for successful instrumentation integration
- Deliver Level 1 support in system integration and troubleshooting
